An oldie but a goodie: Waterfall at Botanical Gardens in Singapore.
I make photographs for clients ranging from the government of Rwanda, Visa, Inc., Johns Hopkins University and the Rwanda national newspaper, The New Times. My Picture of the Day project is here to serve a few purposes: to expose my growing international audience to what life is like as an expat, to keep my photography chops well-exercised and to gain future freelance jobs. Please feel free to email me at julierue@gmail.com with any queries.

My theme of night photography continues. This is our bedroom window in the foreground, blending into the fluorescent light of our kitchen door and on into the yard. I love the transitions.

Orion, with a full moon behind him. (You'll need to look at this one in a darker room--still learning the settings for various environmental shooting and the thumbnail looks just black.) This one does look great on my Mac, though, full size.

It's pretty interesting the point of view one can have while still home, policing fully recuperated pups who, though they are still wearing their head cones, insist on contorting themselves to chew out the remaining stitches. These images came to be as I held Debbie in my lap on the floor, half soothing, half restraining her. Both photos shot with Nikon D600. Top photo: ISO 100, 50mm, f/2.8, 1/250 sec. Bottom photo: ISO 100, 50mm, f/2.8, 1/200sec.

Spent the afternoon reacquainting myself with Kigali. Headed to the gym at the Serena Hotel, where Francis, the man pictured in the second photo, on the right, saw me carrying my camera and asked to take my photo. I complied and asked for him to return the favor. As I walked home, I stopped to capture a copse of bamboo trees and the ever-under construction Marriott (still at it after almost 2 years). All images captured with Nikon D600.

While in South Africa, we tried to have my old Nikon D70 fixed. Unfortunately, the Nikon Authorized Service provider could no longer fix it, as the parts aren't available anymore for that trusty old camera. Mark and I decided to make a big investment in my future and all future photos of the day. Introducing the Nikon D600 with new Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. In addition, my old Tamron 70-300mm lens fits this new camera as well! iPhone 5 camera app, modified in Snapseed.
